I'm Back-And With A GIVEAWAY!!

Well, after visiting relatives (loved that!), playing 'pass-the-illness' for three weeks in our home (did NOT love that!), and fanatically cleaning my house (because of said illness), I am finally back to my blog! I have missed you so much!  All of these blog entries swirling around in my stuffy head with no outlet has only made me feel more foggy and dazed. *sigh*   But like I said, I'm back. We have defeated the germy crud of this year, and emerged victorious and healthy!  Thank you Lord!!

Oh-and the giveaway I mentioned? Well, I am so excited to share it with you!  In my Centsible Holiday class (aired on The Homeschool Channel   in December), I mentioned that I try to steer my family's attention towards tradition building activities rather than centering everything around gift-giving.  I shared a book that I love and highly recommend, but sadly, it  is out of print. This oldie-but-goodie is Let's Make A Memory: Great Ideas for Building Family Traditions and Togetherness by Gloria Gaither and Shirley Dobson.

This book is a treasure trove of family activities broken down by holiday and occasion, with personal vignetttes by the authoress' and other well-known mothers woven throughout.  I have a copy, and happened to find another 1st edition copy at our local used bookstore.  Now, I know that most giveaways are new items, often provided by corporate sponsors, but I figured this would keep with my centsible format, and would be a blessing to whichever homestead won it!  Yes, there's a few spots on the edge of some pages and loving dog-eared corners, but hey, it's a free book, right?

As with most internet contests I've ever entered, all you have to do is leave an positive comment or handy tip on any of my blog entries by March 15th.  When you do, you'll be entered in the drawing for this wonderfully resourceful book. I will announce the drawing on the 15th, and if you're the winner, I will have you email me your mailing address and all the info. You should get it in plenty of time to implement some of the great Easter ideas!

So, with that, have a cozy, peaceful weekend on your homestead, and  be sure to comment on any of my ramblings.  Oh-and don't forget to check back soon for a 'Centsibly Organized' video that I'm working on :)

Blessings,
Hillary At Home

  6. Thanks for sharing all your helpful home ideas. Because of you, I now make our laundry detregent and have my 8 year old cleaning the windows with water so I don't have to worry about her or my twins (20 mo old) inhaling chemical fumes. I also look at thing differently like what has family value building as oppose to just doing something the same way because that's what we are use to. Thanks for all you do. Oh and my daughter loved that speed sugar sifting video you posted.
